WhatsApp Business broadcast message packs are prepaid credits for eligible Business App users. One credit is used for each recipient who receives a broadcast, and WhatsApp says unused credits do not expire. The feature is still rolling out, is currently limited to iOS, and may not appear for every business.

That direct answer matters because search results mix three different things together: the WhatsApp Business App, its older marketing-message experience, and template messaging on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Message packs belong to the Business App broadcast path. They are not a universal price list for every way a business can send WhatsApp messages.

The official message-pack guide tells eligible users to find current availability, pack descriptions, prices and balances inside the app.

Know which WhatsApp product you are using

Start with the screen in front of you. If you open Tools, choose Business broadcasts and see Message credits, you are in the Business App flow described by WhatsApp. You can inspect available packs, buy one and see the remaining balance there.

Check the credit path before sendingUse these five gates before buying a pack or scheduling a business broadcast.
  • Confirm the productVerify that Business broadcasts and Message credits appear inside the Business App.
  • Verify availabilityCheck the actual account and supported device before building the campaign.
  • Read the live offerUse the in-app pack description, price and balance instead of a copied rate.
  • Estimate received messagesPlan around intended recipients and reconcile the recipients who receive the broadcast.
  • Assign the repliesName the person or team responsible for questions, orders and opt-out requests.

The Business Platform is a different operating path. Meta describes Business App broadcasts as a paid App feature, while businesses using the Platform API initiate messages with preapproved templates and separate quality controls. The Meta product announcement makes that boundary explicit.

Do not use an App credit balance to estimate Platform costs, and do not assume a Platform template approval says anything about an App broadcast draft. A useful WhatsApp channel plan records which product owns the phone number, the send and the resulting customer replies.

Check access before building a campaign

WhatsApp says message packs are rolling out gradually and may not be available to you. Its current help page also says packs are available only on iOS devices. That makes availability the first gate, not the final surprise.

Confirm the App path, inspect the available pack, reconcile each received broadcast and retain the unused balance.

Open the Message credits area before writing the campaign schedule. Confirm that the feature appears, read the pack description, check the live price and review your balance. WhatsApp says packs cannot be resold and are non-refundable, subject to applicable law.

Plan credits around delivered recipients

One credit is consumed for each recipient who receives the broadcast. This is more useful than treating the selected audience as the final cost because not every selected contact necessarily becomes a delivered recipient.

Before buying, record the intended audience, exclusions, available balance and pack offered in your app. After sending, compare recipients selected with recipients reported as receiving the message and the resulting balance.

Credits remaining in the pack do not expire, but that should not encourage a business to send merely because credits are available.

Put audience quality before the balance

Paying for a broadcast does not make it relevant. Meta says it wants people to remain in control of business chats and limits the marketing messages they receive. Build the audience from people who expect the update, remove contacts who should not receive it and make the message useful without repeated pressure.

The App also reviews business broadcast drafts before they are sent. That review is separate from buying credits. If a draft is not approved, follow the guidance, revise the content and try again only when the message still has a legitimate purpose. The existing guide to business broadcast review explains that boundary without inventing a banned-word list.

Assign the replies before sending. A broadcast can create questions, orders, booking changes or opt-out requests. A shared team inbox is useful only when one person owns each conversation and the customer does not have to repeat the context.

Decide whether the App still fits

Message packs belong to the Business App workflow offered to the account. A small operator may prefer the direct path for a simple audience and owned response queue. A larger team may need governed templates, approvals, permissions, automation and reporting.

That is an operating decision, not a claim that one product is always better. If several people prepare messages, approve content, manage segments and answer replies, document those roles. Explore campaign controls and template operations when the App no longer provides enough shared evidence.

Do not migrate merely because a third-party article quotes a different price. Compare the current in-app offer, the team workload, the types of messages you send and the customer experience you need to preserve.

Keep a simple evidence record

For each purchase, retain the date, in-app pack description, amount paid, credits added and owning account. For each broadcast, record the audience decision, recipients reported as receiving it, credits used, replies and unresolved exceptions. Never store payment secrets there.

Review that evidence after the first few sends. If balances cannot be reconciled, payments fail or the feature disappears, pause and use WhatsApp's documented support path. Do not guess at billing or keep buying packs to hide an unexplained difference.

Use a pricing review to compare the App workflow with a managed campaign operation using one real broadcast, its pack evidence and its reply workload.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do WhatsApp message packs cost?

WhatsApp directs users to Tools, Business broadcasts and Message credits for current pack prices. Do not rely on a fixed global price quoted elsewhere because availability and offers can change.

Do message pack credits expire?

No. WhatsApp's current help page says message-pack credits do not expire, so unused credits remain available at your own pace.

Are message packs available on Android?

WhatsApp currently says message packs are available only on iOS and are rolling out gradually. Check the official help page and your own Business App before planning a send.

Are message packs the same as Business Platform template pricing?

No. Message packs are documented for Business App business broadcasts. Business Platform initiated messages use the Platform's template and quality-control path, so evaluate that product and its billing separately.
